Currently we have an opening for a Research Technologist – Human Pluripotent Stem Cells in our Vancouver office.


This position will be responsible for the development, testing and analysis of reagents that support human pluripotent stem cell culture. This work will also include the development of new products, testing of existing products and evaluation of competing products. As an in-house expert in developing synthetic and novel reagents for cell culture and tissue engineering, the Research Technologist will be responsible for product documentation, data analysis and reporting, troubleshooting experiments, literature reviews and some experimental design.



  • Responsible for performing all experiments designed with supervisor input, including establishing novel technologies in house for cell culture environments, specifically in differentiation cultures
  • Performs data analysis and calculations independently
  • Troubleshoots experiments, identifies abnormal or unexpected trends in data
  • Presents data at R&D data meetings, provides conclusions and future plans
  • Validates new products and new product components
  • Performs literature reviews, discusses relevance to product design with supervisor
  • Tracks competitor activity, discusses relevance with supervisor
  • Sources new product components and technologies
  • Works with external collaborators to gain access to analytical instrumentations and/or contract analytical services; performs work on these instruments as required
  • Assists in the preparation of technical documentation for product line related to matrices for cell culture
  • May provide training on laboratory/product protocols to lab and sales staff
  • May provide technical support (product use, protocols) for QC and Manufacturing as needed
  • Supports Quality initiatives



  • BSc in Biology, Biochemistry or a related relevant area with 0-3 years’ laboratory experience
  • Knowledgeable in a specific field related to stem cell biology, developmental biology, or tissue engineering
  • Cell culture experience is highly desirable and skills in Cell and Molecular Biology an asset
  • Skilled in wide range of laboratory techniques and analytical instrumentation
  • Experienced in performing independent laboratory research
  • Works well in a team
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Good verbal communication both in one on one and in a group setting
