Senior Financial Analyst, Development Operations

Located in Vancouver, BC, the Development Operations Senior Financial Analyst role will provide an excellent opportunity to be a collaborative business partner and trusted advisor for the VP of Operations and Senior Business Leadership. The role will focus on managing all aspects of finance across key operational functions.


Key Objectives of the Role

The role will play a key part in providing financial support to key business leaders, department managers, Studio Finance and Executive decision makers with respect to EA’s performance. A key requirement will be to increase departmental value by providing timely insight into risk and opportunities with respect to future earnings and spending. The role will also represent a key point of contact to several business leaders and departments, and will be expected to handle a wide range of FP&A activities.


Key Responsibilities

The position has a significant and direct impact on the success of the Operational teams and will provide strong challenges and growth opportunities. The role is fundamentally needed to help the Operations teams continue to embrace the philosophy of shared technology, processes, and distributed development within a best practice environment. Responsibilities include management reporting, forecasting, month end reporting, long range planning, strategic analyses and leading effective financial planning processes and systems.


  1. Provides all departmental financial reporting, metrics and dashboards, measuring performance versus both fiscal year plans and long range strategic planning targets.
  2. Partner with the various Business leads to develop long range strategic plans and financial models to drive the effective management of projects and departments.
  3. Establish fiscal year operating plans for all departments
  4. Produce and present ad hoc reporting and analysis as requested by Business or Finance Leadership
  5. Play a key role in the evolution of financial processes and systems; support close and consolidation re-engineering and SOX 404 compliance efforts.
  6. Transparent communication of potential financial risks and opportunities to Finance Leadership as well as Business leadership.
  7. Responsible for completing headcount forecasts and total spend on a monthly basis. This involves updating EA internal systems with the latest information gathered from the game teams and reviewing with the Finance and Business Unit leadership teams.
  8. Responsible for month end accruals and monthly spend variance analysis for all budget holders.
  9. Liaise with finance partners across multiple studios to ensure seamless communication and organizational alignment with respect to central team forecasting and planning processes
  10. Serve as an expert and systems business support. Utilize and implement various financial systems for analysis and reporting
  11. As requested, assist the EA Studio’s Finance team to develop, deploy and share simple standardized financial models, reports and processes to support our emerging digital businesses.


Technical skills, experience, and talents

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting, combined with a minimum of 3 years of relevant business or FP&A experience.
  • Comfortable working both at the strategic level and operational level.
  • Excellent MS Excel skills, competent with MS Powerpoint and proficient in basic accounting knowledge.
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving and communication skills.  Attention to detail and accuracy a must.
  • Confidentiality and integrity in dealing with highly sensitive information.
  • Self-motivated, able to work with little supervision, demonstrates initiative, flexibility, teamwork, maturity under pressure, and anticipates and resolves problems before they develop.
  • Customer focused. Proven record of working with multiple teams and have shown the ability to effectively communicate at a senior level within their organization.
  • Highly motivated and able to handle multiple and sometimes competing priorities.
  • Experience with financial systems such as Hyperion Essbase / Pillar / Oracle, is a plus
