Responsibilities:

 

The VP will provide technology vision and leadership for developing and implementing IT initiatives that create and maintain leadership for the TransUnion Canada group, in tandem with Global Technology direction and governance.  Is responsible for maintaining the integrity of all services and processing delivered by the group to clients of TU Canada and will work with its executives to ensure complete and appropriate processing of systems, information processing equipment and software utilized in support of data acquisition, processing, storage and retrieval, and will be responsible for definition of the strategic direction of information processing, communications systems and operations.  This position has responsibility for the information security, data protection, and physical security of TransUnion Canada and English speaking Caribbean. The VP will provide leadership in the day to day operation of Information Services functions as well as providing direction as the group and enterprise grow through internal growth and external acquisition.  In addition, this position will lead the division’s efforts in Business Operations; Quality Assurance, Marketing Services, Investigations, Help Desk and Customer/Consumer Service.  Leads interactions with other TU business units and manages cross-functional projects.  Responsibilities will include:

 

  1. Define and create an enterprise architecture that balances e-commerce and back-office development, software implementations and custom development.  Architecture will include open, standards-based technologies, distributed components, layered application structure, shared applications and services and fault tolerance.
  2. Develop an integrated information architecture that works within the overall context of TransUnion architectures and planning visions; while optimizing information movement and storage environments within TransUnion Canada.
  3. Evaluate current systems and new technologies and tools, and set direction for technology through collaborative processes with all concerned parties, particularly with the management team for TransUnion Canada.
  4. Translate business needs into technical solutions.
  5. Meet the implementation deadlines agreed with the TransUnion, and TransUnion Canada clients and management teams.
  6. Lead Application Development, Database Administration, System Administration, Quality Assurance and Business Metrics.
  7. Sponsor collaborative planning processes.
  8. Determine, define and oversee make vs. buy decisions relative to outsourcing vs. in-house provisioning of IT services and skills.
  9. Establish strategic relationships with key IT suppliers and consultants.
  10. Provide enabling technologies that make it easier for customers and suppliers to do business with TransUnion Canada as well as increasing revenues and profitability.
  11. Interact with internal and external clients to ensure continuous customer satisfaction.
  12. Provide training for all IT users to ensure productive use of existing and new systems.
  13. Consults on long-range security planning with relevant stakeholders in the Legal, Compliance and Technology departments.  Analyze security requirements in the context of current and future business plans as it relates to TU Canada and the English speaking Caribbean.
  14. Oversee both internal and external reviews and adherence to all legal requirements as it relates to security at TU Canada and the English speaking Caribbean.
  15. Create programs at TU Canada and the English speaking Caribbean that foster a culture of awareness, sensitivity and accountability for information security policies, and maximize compliance while mitigating risk.
  16. Oversee the security department as it engages in investigation and implement of corrective actions for TU Canada and the English speaking Caribbean.
  17. Ensures Operation’s compliance with all applicable provincial and federal laws and regulations.  Proactively oversees the Data Centre to establish and monitor work standards, ensuring activities are in compliance.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

BS or BA in Computer Science, EE or related discipline required.  MBA, MS or other advanced degree is valuable.  15+ years work experience in applications development/IT architecture/CIO & CTO areas.  Knowledge of application frameworks, middleware, application servers and security.  Experience with AIX, Linux, Windows, Websphere, Oracle, Cisco, Java and .NET preferred.  Requires management skills, significant knowledge across multiple platforms, processes and architectures as well as knowledge of new technologies in e-business arena. Strong business orientation with broad experience in Financial Services in key client segments; managing IT or related activities. A strong background in IT and Information Architectural planning and governance.  Demonstrated ability to bring forward the benefits of IT to solve business issues while also managing costs and risk.  Skilled at identifying and evaluating new technological developments and gauging their appropriateness for the business.  Ability to conceptualize, launch and deliver multiple IT projects on time and within budget inclusive of the disciplined management of a portfolio of projects that are potentially competing for the same resources.
