Position Title: Quality analyst, gameplay design for Dragon Age
What the Quality Analyst, Gameplay Design will do at BioWare:
The Gameplay Analyst role is responsible for working with development on the quality creation and implementation of design elements. This person will play a key role in ensuring a seamless player experience with the product, “testing” the fun-factor of the game, understanding development tools and workflow, and assisting QA project management with generating and executing test plans. The Gameplay Quality Analyst tests game assets and mechanics to help ensure that players of all skill levels can enjoy the game, understand why their choices matter and how gameplay choices feel viable and compelling.
Who You Are:
•White-box and/or tools assisted manual testing with a focus on gameplay/combat.
•Write gameplay analysis and effectively communicate gameplay feedback to Design and QA Leadership
•Pre-integration testing of features
•Define technical acceptance tests for new features and keep them up-to-date throughout the project
•Build test content and design-focused documentation for QA
•Proactively contributes to the strategy of the QA group
•Anticipating, identifying, analyzing, prioritizing, and communicating risks and impact related to gameplay systems
•Collecting data and various metrics that will allow designers to act upon and/ or recommend improvements for our new and existing games
•Ability to provide actionable gameplay balancing feedback
•Creating and maintaining extensive gameplay design documents for QA purpose.
The Next Great BioWare Senior Quality Analyst needs:
•Minimum 2 years of QA experience on AAA titles, in agile game development or other relevant experience
Strong understanding of the software development life cycle and how it applies to QA
•Solid understanding of game design theory
•Applicant must be able to identify and solve problems creatively without guidance
•Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required
•Applicant must be able to work in a team environment
•Excellent attention to detail is required
•Excellent analytical skills is strongly preferred
Involvement in competitive gaming & gaming communities
Experience using 3D editors (UnrealEd or other popular or proprietary game engines)
Proficiency with scripting languages (Lua, Python)
Familiarity with BioWare products
Broad knowledge of console and PC games
