Our current state is a melting pot of engineering practices and languages to support our very popular and high scale games.  As our Studio Technical Director, you’ll be tasked with guiding us to make the BEST and most efficient technical decisions for our entire studio.  The person we’re looking for will be our “trailblazer” establishing best practices, processes, methodologies, and overall solutions.


You’ll ensure all of our development staff, game engineers, shared tech engineers, and tech operations, are all on the same page with PopCap’s direction.  This person will oversee  the building out and delivering large-scale gaming services, leading integration projects to match EA’s ecosystem, mentoring and leading a huge team of developers, and working very closely with our studio leaders to deliver our business from a technical standpoint.



  • Ownership of all our technology/architecture and tech process choices while guiding the studio leadership on technical direction to follow.
  • Ensure and evangelize technical alignment of multi-platform mobile development.
  • Lead technical design reviews to identify potential problems.
  • Identify/plan tools development that will help overall productivity.
  • Hire EPIC engineering staff and ensure newbies get trained properly.
  • Support teams when they face technical challenges (usually over a beer…or three).
  • Work with other technical leads to ensure alignment with EA’s technology portfolio.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent training and professional experience.
  • 10 years+ in software development leadership positions along with 3+ years of previous game development experience.
  • Strong knowledge of C#, C++, or other OOP languages.
  • Understanding of memory management, multiple processor use, and runtime optimization.
  • Understanding of distributed server and cloud technologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of good software engineering practices and processes.



  • Experience with mobile game development.
  • Experience with C#, Web Technologies, and Unity.
