Our production is mainly devoted to the manufature and sale of gray Portland cement, mortar, premixed concrete, concrete blocks, plaster, aggregates and other construction materials.
The position develops, maintains and updates the plant process control system, environmental related instrumentation, and automated laboratory system to assure continuous plant operation is meeting environmental permit requirements. This position has complete responsibility and oversight of the entire plant process control system, automated laboratory system and environmental instrumentation.
Designs, specifies and implements the plant process control system including PLC programs and HMI screens.
Designs, specifies and oversees the installation, maintenance and trouble shooting of opacity, continuous emission monitors for both environmental and process applications.
Maintains all related documentation, PI&D schematics and keeps control drawings updated.
Reviews spare parts requirements and requests changes if needed.
Reviews Bill of Materials settings on the Enterprise Resource Planner (SAP) and adds materials as needed.
Provides project engineering and management support to automation capital projects.
Acts as an interface between the plant control system and the IT (Information Technology) Department.
Remains knowledgeable of current industry standards and technology. Is responsible for staying updated on the state of the art and industry best practices with regard to cement plant automation and control system.
Advises and consults with Plant Manager on abnormal operations, production, quality control, schedules and maintenance problems. Actively participates in resolution of any such problems through the exercise of independent judgment.
Supports Automated Lab system, including human-machine interface and PLC’s (hardware and software).
Support maintenance business unit during device troubleshooting and instrument calibration and is a direct source of assistance to the Electrical Department and Instrumentation Technician.
Supports the Production Department with the plant process control system, reviewing equipment start sequences and equipment interlocking, alarm and shutdown set points.
Places requisitions for materials and parts from storeroom and vendors.
Maintains and enforces a safe working environment, adheres to all plant and MSHA safety policies and practices, supervises daily housekeeping of assigned area, adheres to plant policies and proper use of plant radios, and any other assigned tasks towards improve the business operation.
Ensures quality of work performed, supports, promotes and utilizes continuous improvement systems. Observes and promotes best practices, good time management and is able to troubleshoot/analyze root cause failures.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and engineering trades
- Required: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- Required: 5+ years experience with control systems in a heavy industrial environment
- Required: solid computer skills with knowledge of database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software; experience with local area networks and PC operating systems.
- Desired: Knowledge of statistical and problem solving tools.
- Desired: Participative leadership profile according to a high performance work environment.
- Desired: Instrument Society of America Certified Instrument Control Engineer License, or ability to obtain.
